To sell via email you need three things.

First off you need a list of the schools you want to reach, and here you will find that school lists come in two varieties.

At the more basic end there are the generic email lists which takes the email to the school office, rather than to an individual teacher or manager.

The more effective alternative are the email addresses that teachers and managers are given in the school which allow you to email them directly.

Schools.co.uk has databases of both types of email addresses.  With all addresses, we can undertake emailing campaigns for you.  With the generic addresses we can also supply you with a list so that you can undertake the emailing yourself.

Next you need a means of transmission.

This can be more complex than it sounds, because it is not unknown for bulk senders of emails who are not recognised by major transmitters of emails (Microsoft is one such) to have all their emailings completely blocked. What’s more, since the organisations that “police” emails in this way are answerable to no one, communicating with them and asking to be unblocked can be very hard going.

You can, of course, use a third party to undertake the mailing, be it companies that exist just for this purpose or companies like Schools.co.uk that undertake this process just for their customers. Or you can buy appropriate software and undertake the process yourself.  But beware, some companies simply won’t send emails to addresses such as “office@”

Third you need a way of getting your email read.

In short you need a way of getting the email through and then stopping teachers and others in schools from hitting the delete button as soon as your advert comes in.

This can be quite an issue, and it is something that Schools.co.uk has been researching for many years.  We are happy to share our knowledge with you, whether you are a customer of ours or not!

Huge amounts of research have been done on how this can be achieved, but the overwhelming number of companies that promote themselves via email don’t use such approaches - which, of course, is a great advantage to those companies that do use the more successful approach.

Our advice is simple and twofold. First, 99% of emails that you will see are not written by people who understand how to make email marketing work, and therefore should not be copied.

Second, the answers are not common sense.

Schools.co.uk works in all three areas (devising emailing lists, building delivery systems, and ensuring that emails are read) and is happy to discuss any of these points and to tell you exactly what we do, without obligation.
